GAZE INTO THE PRAIRIE SKY OF SAGE CREEK
The Sage Creek Residents’ Association is a volunteer-run, community organization. They work with residents, local business owners, city officials and Qualico Communities to maintain and grow the incredible community spirit of Sage Creek.
The SCRA organizes several community events throughout the year, such as the Community Garage Sale, Christmas Decorating Contest, and the well-known Canada Day Celebration.
I am pleased to announce the official serve of two new Tennis/Pickleball courts in the Sage Creek area of the St. Vital Ward. The courts are funded by the City of Winnipeg’s 2020 Capital budget, at a cost of $240,000. The Sage Creek Residents Association (SCRA) has supported this project through all its phases; design, construction and now the official opening. SCRA President Frank Capasso will join Councillor Mayes and local MLA, Andrew Smith, at the court opening. “Sage Creek is a rapidly growing area with many young families, as well as older adults who are active in the Tennis/Pickleball sporting communities. I am happy to see this project is ready for the public to enjoy.” Said Councillor Mayes. “Since my election in 2011, the St. Vital Ward has gone from seven battered asphalt tennis courts, to seven courts that are either brand new (Dakota Collegiate, Sage Creek) or restored (St. Germain Park, Windsor Community Centre).” Since 2013, the City of Winnipeg has upgraded, or built, more than 30 outdoor Tennis courts throughout the City.
